INDEXING THE "OLD" TECHNICAL NOTES
Last updated: 4/22/96
If you need a match between a Technical Note's old number and its reorganized (and Archived) number, you'll want to download one of the 3 enclosed files.
For example, old Technical Note 306, "Icon Drawing in 7," has been renumbered as Technical Note QD 18, "Drawing Icons the System 7 Way," and can be
found in the Archived Technical Note QuickDraw folder.
This renumbering predates the new & revised Technotes, thus only affects the Archived Technical Notes.
The 3 downloadable files are in Microsoft Word 5.1a format, binhexed for Web accessing:

QuickDraw GX MappingLibrary.c: Its Uses and Limitations and
QuickDraw GX OffscreenLibrary.c in Detail: Description, Uses & Limitations.
We've also got two Technotes contributed from our very own Vinnie Moscaritolo. Access & the Power Manager:Headaches
& Cures describes what to look out for when building an app which bypasses the Macintosh file system for communication, and
Write Cache Flushing: Techniques for Properly Handling System Shutdown addresses ways to flush the disk's write cache
during the shutdown process. Additionally, Jim Luther & Pete Gontier provide us with
an updated Inside Macintosh: Files Errata.
Lastly, as an added bonus, we've got Technote 1031 - History & Peregrinations: The Dogcow Goes QuickTime VR. This
Technote looks at some of the Dogcow's history and peregrinations, and follows with an explanation of the technique for creating a QuickTime VR object movie
with the Dogcow as star.
